How we handle shipping

Shipping rules differ from shop to shop, and most shops change them from time to time. To keep comparisons simple and fair, we use one rule for every product page.

The rule

1. Free shipping at $100 or less. If a shop ships free once your order reaches $100 or less (for example $30, $50 or $75), we compare that shop on the item price alone. Table tennis gear is usually bought in a set, such as a blade and two rubbers, so a typical order clears these minimums. The shipping column still shows the minimum, for example “Free over $75”.
2. Higher or no free-shipping minimum. We add the shop's standard shipping for one item to its price when we have confirmed that amount.
3. Not confirmed. If we have not confirmed a shop's shipping, the shipping column says “See shop” and only the item price is counted. Check the retailer's site before you buy.

What this means for you

A single low-priced item, such as one rubber, can cost more than the price shown if the shop's free-shipping minimum is not reached. Adding a second item, or buying everything from one shop, usually removes the shipping charge. Shipping rates shown are each shop's standard US rate for the contiguous states; we do not vary them by destination state, and prices do not include sales tax.

Where the numbers come from

We read each shop's published shipping policy and record the date we checked. Shops can change their policies at any time, so always confirm the final price and shipping at checkout. See also how TableTennisPrices works.
